About Anthony
Dr. Anthony Stowers spent 34-plus years in public safety for several municipalities in New Hampshire and Massachusetts before retiring as fire chief for the Town of Maynard, Massachusetts. During his career Anthony has held various positions related directly to public safety, mentoring subordinates, and working with internal and external stakeholders on a variety of issues. Anthony has extensive experience in strategic planning, operational and capital budgeting for public safety agencies, labor negotiations, developing emergency management strategies, and continuity of operations planning.
Anthony has developed and delivered leadership development programs grooming future leaders and is an adjunct faculty member for the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program. Anthony has extensive experience training public and private sector employees, as well mentoring emerging leaders.
During his tenure as fire chief, Anthony was active in his fire district, chairing multiple committees, and was also an active member of the international association of fire chiefs serving on the communications committee and serving as the New England Director of the Executive Fire Officer Section. As fire chief, Anthony championed the effort to fund, and ultimately build a $15million state of the art fire station and emergency operations center.
Anthony holds a Bachelor of Science in Fire and Emergency Management from Granite State College, a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Southern New Hampshire University, and a Doctor of Business Administration with a Leadership Focus from Walden University. Dr. Stowers is a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program and is also an instructor for the Executive Fire Officer Program. Dr. Stowers completed Chief Officer 3 & 4 through the Edward J. Collins Center for Public Management and the Massachusetts Fire Academy. Dr. Stowers holds the Chief Fire Officer Designation through the Center for Public Safety Excellence and is a Credentialed Fire Chief in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
